France Announces It Will Not Participate in Military Operations Against Sana’a Forces

Agence France-Presse revealed on Tuesday that France will not participate in any military operations against the Yemeni forces, indicating its readiness to contribute to securing Saudi energy facilities.

The agency explained, citing a diplomatic source, that France has expressed its readiness to contribute to securing Saudi energy facilities that are being subjected to attacks by Sana’a forces, within what it described as a “purely defensive approach.”

The source said: France is ready to contribute to securing Saudi energy infrastructure in Yanbu and along the “East-West” pipeline.

He stressed that this does not in any way mean participation in military operations against Sana’a forces.

The French position comes following Saudi requests to obtain direct military support in confronting Sana’a forces, at a time when Britain announced providing defensive support to the Kingdom only, while Washington refused to engage militarily directly, while being ready to provide intelligence support, which disappoints Riyadh’s hopes and complicates its calculations.
