The House of Representatives in Sana’a Calls on Turkey and Pakistan to Play a Positive Role in Ending the War and Siege on Yemen

The Speaker of the House of Representatives in Sana’a, Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i, sent two letters to his counterparts in Pakistan and Turkey, calling on Islamabad and Ankara to play a positive role in pushing towards ending the war and siege on Yemen.

Al-Ra’i said that Yemen has been subjected to aggression and siege by the Saudi regime for more than 12 years, noting that the raids and attacks have resulted in about 60,000 martyrs and wounded among civilians, including 24,000 martyrs and 36,000 wounded.

He added that the repercussions of the siege have led to the death of more than one million and 400 thousand Yemenis, most of them children, women, and the elderly.

Al-Ra’i accused Saudi Arabia of reneging on its commitments regarding de-escalation and implementing the provisions of the “roadmap,” considering that the military escalation pushed Sana’a to implement what he described as the “siege-for-siege equation.”

He called on Pakistan and Turkey to distance themselves from Saudi policies towards Yemen and to work on pushing Riyadh to end the war and siege.

He stressed the importance of the two countries being “an integral part of the solution” to spare the region further wars and to work on uniting the word and stopping the bloodshed among the sons of the Islamic nation.
