A member of the Political Bureau of the Ansar Allah movement, Mohammed Al-Farah, said today, Thursday, that the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait is part of Yemeni national sovereignty, affirming that Sana’a forces regaining control over it represents the restoration of a part of sovereignty over a historic and strategic Yemeni maritime passage.

Al-Farah explained in an interview with Al-Mayadeen channel that “what the Saudi enemy is promoting in narratives and raising fears about international navigation represents an attempt to present the issue of its aggression as an international issue.”
The Ansar Allah leader stressed that international navigation movement in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandeb is safe, except for Saudi ships, on which Sana’a imposes a naval blockade aimed at lifting the Kingdom’s siege on Yemen.

In a related context, the Ministry of Transport and Public Works in the Sana’a government announced yesterday, Wednesday, that 408 international commercial ships crossed the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait during the period from September 11 to 21, at a rate of about 40 ships per day, in an indication of the stability of maritime navigation movement.
The ministry affirmed that international navigation and trade movement through the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait is proceeding normally and safely, indicating that “these data refute the claims and rumors aimed at intimidating shipping companies and affecting navigation movement.”
