Including the Al-Maqatirah Fortress… Sana’a Forces Tighten Their Control Over Strategic Sites North of Lahj

Media outlets and platforms close to the Saudi-backed forces acknowledged on Saturday the withdrawal of their groups from the “Al-Maqatirah Fortress,” following the advance of the Sana’a forces and their control over the fortress site and many strategic sites in Al-Maqatirah District, north of Lahj.

Exclusive Follow-ups — Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The advance came following a lightning attack that began on the morning of yesterday, Friday, from several axes and violent confrontations with the Saudi mobilizations, which ended with the collapse of the latter’s groups and the fall of dead, wounded, and captives among their ranks, and their withdrawal from the fortress, the center of Al-Maqatirah District “Souq Al-Rubou’,” Naqil Al-Kurbah, and other mountainous heights, toward Tur Al-Baha District.

These sites, foremost among them the “Al-Maqatirah” fortress, acquire military and geographical importance; as the heights overlooking the area provide a wider scope for monitoring and positioning over wide areas in the region.

While Naqil Al-Kurbah represents a vital passage linking areas of Taiz to Al-Maqatirah and Lahj, which makes controlling it influential in the movement of forces and supply lines.

This advance grants the Sana’a forces an advanced field position in an area linking the Taiz countryside to northern Lahj, and opens before them a wider scope for movement toward Tur Al-Baha and the southern areas of Al-Mudaribah and Ras Al-Arah, at a time when the Saudi-backed forces face challenges related to rearranging their deployment and securing their movement lines.
