A Saudi Hint at Withdrawal from Al-Mandeb With the Loss of Its Battle

Saudi Arabia threatened on Sunday to withdraw from the battle of the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, this coincides with accelerating developments on the ground.

Exclusive — Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The Chief of Staff of the Saudi Army, according to what Saudi media outlets reported, said that maritime security is not the responsibility of a single state, considering that illegal.

He added in a press statement that force cannot be a substitute for law, and that the threats to the maritime passages affect the interests of all states.

The statements of the Saudi military official came amid developments in Bab Al-Mandeb, the most important of the vital straits in the Red Sea.

The Sana’a forces strengthened during the recent hours their grip on the area located south of the strait toward the Gulf of Aden, weeks after securing the western side of the strait.

Saudi Arabia failed in its campaign to control the strait, which has continued for weeks, to recover it, as its factions were subjected to powerful strikes that forced them to withdraw with the dwindling of their chances of survival following the advance of the Sana’a forces in Lahj, the other bank of the strait.

The statements of the Saudi Chief of Staff were considered as an attempt to blackmail regional and international parties such as the United States, especially with its continued opposition to engaging in a new war in Yemen.
