Protestors in Abyan Condemn Corruption Economic Decline

Large protests erupted in Abyan province on Tuesday denouncing corruption of Saudi-backed Hadi’s government and the economic deterioration in Yemen’s southern provinces.

The demonstrators chanted slogans calling for the departure of the government and the province’s governor, Abu Bakr Hussein.

They confirmed, in a statement, that they vowed to continue the escalation until the departure of “the symbols of corruption” in the government.

The protestors condemned the collapse of the illegal local currency against foreign currencies, and the mad rise in food prices, amid the silence of Hadi’s government towards the suffering of the people.

Most southern provinces are witnessing wide protests, most notably “Aden and Hadramout,” due to the collapse of the value of the Yemeni riyal and the deterioration of the economy.
