Demonstrations Continue in Aden

Hundreds of citizens continued to demonstrate on Wednesday, in al-Araodh Square in Aden city, although the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) banned demonstrations in the city.

The protesters raised slogans and chants denouncing the corruption of “Hadi’s government and calling for economic reforms, disbursements of salaries, and improvement of basic services in the city.

Earlier in the day, the STC directed its militias to prevent any demonstrations or protest rallies to be organized unless, after being authorized previously by the Ministry of Interior in the Hadi government.

On Tuesday, thousands of protesters stormed Aden’s presidential al-Maasheeq Palace in massive demonstrations against the government of Hadi, deterioration of economic conditions and the rise in food prices.
