Sources in Hadi government revealed on Tuesday, that Saudi Arabia and France had concluded a new deal in Yemen that would prolong the war led by the latter with Western support, which will enter its eighth year at the end of this month.

The sources reported that the deal stipulates that the coalition will allow the French company, Total, to operate Balhaf facility, the most important liquefied gas production facility in Yemen, in return for Paris, which currently chairs the European Union, obstructing efforts to put forward UN peace initiative in Yemen, it is led by Swedish former EU ambassador, Hans Grodenberg.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian had announced, during a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, following contacts between Macron and the Saudi Crown Prince, France’s full support for the Saudi peace initiative in Yemen, and that was before the arrival of the international envoy to Riyadh on a tour that seemed empty-handed and an attempt to market justifications for the failure of peace efforts.
The French announcement was followed by a movement for coalition in Shabwah, where it was reported that he had signed an agreement with the GPC authority there. It requires handing over Tariq Saleh, the leader of the pro-Emirati factions on the west coast of Yemen, the duties of securing Balhaf facility, which revealed the governor of Shabwah, Awad Ibn Al-Wazir, and the approaching operation.
France is racing against time to secure its liquefied gas needs, as fears escalate that Russia will cut off supplies to Europe, with the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
