British-Saudi Consensus on Secession of Southern Yemen

Britain, the former colony of southern Yemen, joined forces with Saudi demands on Tuesday to separate the strategic and rich region in the south and east of the country, what reveals the upcoming plan for the stage after the formation of the “presidential” council.

British Secretary of State James Cleverly said in a press statement that the alternative plan for the failure of the Presidential Council in Yemen and what suffers from division is supporting the secession of southern Yemen.

Kilverly’s statements came in the wake of similar statements by the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Muhammad Al Jaber, where he indicated his country’s intention to restore the two states between northern and southern Yemen. In reference to the separation, and all of them come in parallel with a Saudi bet on the failure of the council.

According to the opinion of the senior foreign policy theorists of Saudi Arabia, the most prominent of them is Abdullah Al Hatila, assistant editor-in-chief of the official Okaz newspaper; he indicated in a tweet that his country might make a deal with “Houthis” in the north if the presidency fails.
