Hodeida: Six Civilians Killed, Injured by Explosion of War Remnants

Two citizens were killed and four others were injured in al-Duraihimi district in Hodeida province as a result of the explosion of a landmine and remnants of war by the Saudi-backed forces.

The Executive Center for Dealing with Mines in Sana’a said in a statement on Monday that two citizens, were killed as a result of a mine explosion left over from the forces of Saudi coalition in the village of Shajan al-Jhahba, al-Jahaba al-Olia area in Al-Duraihimi district, while four victims were killed in the Kilo-16 area after a remnant of war exploded.

The center noted that in the recent period the number of mine victims and war remnants has increased significantly, with a total of about 310 martyrs and wounded in 2022.

He pointed to the continuing difficulties in the work of field teams, as a result of the lack of support provided by UNDP to the United Nations, the failure to comply with its responsibilities towards field work, as well as the prevention of the Saudi coalition from entering the detectors to clear areas contaminated with these hazardous wastes.
