The Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC) said on Saturday that the fuel shipments incurred delay fines during the truce period, amounting to $11 million due to piracy, detention, and the delay in their entry to Hodeida ports, pointing out that the number of fuel ships currently detained reached 9 fuel ships, all of which have UN entry permits.
YPC reiterated the continuation of the Saudi-led coalition in piracy on all fuel ships, without exception, and their detention since the temporary truce announcement.
The company stated in a statement, received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that the fuel ships are still being held by the Saudi coalition for varying periods, a total of 314 days since the announcement of the temporary armistice agreement, in addition to the delay period in Djibouti for a total period of more than 152 days, pending Inspection and obtaining entry permits to Hodeida ports from the UN Verification and Inspection Mechanism.
The company stressed that during the temporary truce period (April-September), only 33 fuel vessels out of 54 vessels reached Hodeida ports, of which only four were released on August 2, at the end of the first extension period of the temporary truce.
According to the statement, no fuel vessel was released during the second extension of the temporary truce.
The Yemeni Oil Company confirmed that the complicity of the relevant UN formations with the Saudi coalition seriously contributes to the exacerbation of explicit violations of the temporary armistice agreement.
The company pointed out in its statement that complicity is no longer limited to silence and ignoring the obvious restrictions and obstacles to the movement of fuel ships, but has become in the category of actual participation in the blockade through the coordinates and instructions sent by the (UNIVM) to the ships authorized to go to the detention area and stay there waiting for a “permit the battleships of the coalition to allow it to reach Hodeida ports.
