Islah Party Sets New Conditions to Return to Aden Council

The Islah party (the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood), has set two new conditions in exchange for a return to partnership in the authority of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council.

This came during a meeting between the acting head of the party and a number of its leaders with the ambassadors of the European Union.

Islahi leader Abdul Razzaq al-Hijri stressed that the recent developments in Abyan and Shabwa have ended the partnership, referring to the expulsion of the party’s factions from their last strongholds in southern Yemen.

He stressed the need for the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia to leave the two provinces as a condition for returning to power.

An EU delegation met party leaders in Riyadh as part of the western movement aimed at reuniting the collapsing pro-coalition authority.

Al-Hijri demanded a partnership in power in accordance with the agreed provisions, He also denounced the attacks on the state institutions by the STC.
