Sana’a FM: Ending War, Lifting Blockade Is Essential to Address Humanitarian Catastrophe in Yemen

Foreign Minister of Sana’a government, Hisham Sharaf, on Tuesday stressed that ending the war and lifting the blockade on Yemen is essential to address the repercussions of the humanitarian catastrophe and reaching a comprehensive peace settlement.

In the meeting, Sharaf noted the importance of the visit to see the reality of the situation and the humanitarian catastrophe that the Yemeni people are suffering from, especially children, as a result of the Saudi-led coalition’s war, or not receiving the necessary treatment, or for reasons of malnutrition.

The Foreign Minister indicated to facilities provided by Sana’a government to international organizations operating in Yemen, especially UNICEF, expressing hope that the organization would expand its programs in Yemen in line with the scale of the humanitarian disaster.

For her part, Russell confirmed that the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen is at the top of the organization’s agenda to mitigate the effects of the humanitarian disaster in the country.
