Aden government resolves the salary issue

Aden’s government decided the status of state employees’ salaries in Yemen, in a step that reveals attempts to evade the entitlements of the humanitarian file.

“Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni”:

The Turkish Anadolu Agency quoted an official of the Aden government as saying that his government refuses to pay the salaries of employees, trying to market pretexts to justify the move.

Although Aden’s government was not originally a party to the ongoing negotiations between Sana’a and Riyadh, with Omani mediation, it was not informed of their events, according to the confessions of its officials. The most prominent is Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, but pushing them to the forefront of the scene to maneuver the salary file comes within regional and international efforts to drop the salary file from the entitlements of the humanitarian file.

The Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Muhammad Al Jaber, and the American envoy had previously linked the payment of salaries to a comprehensive political settlement in Yemen. This is a step that could undermine the understanding reached during Ramadan negotiations in Sana’a, mediated by Oman.

Through revealing this move, these parties attempted to pressure in order to keep salaries out of the file of confidence-building measures, by linking it to political issues that may take years to negotiate.
