Just hours before his arrival in Riyadh, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, the president of the Transitional Council and an advocate for the separation of southern Yemen, announced on Sunday his withdrawal from the presidential council.

In an interview with the UAE-funded Al-Ghad Al-Mushreq channel, Al-Zubaidi confirmed his insistence on changing the Maeen government, indicating that it had become unable to work in the field or build institutions.
Al-Zubaidi pointed out that the alternative to not changing the government is the collapse of the presidential council, in reference to withdrawal from it.
The Transitional Council currently has three members in the Presidential Council after the appointment of Abu Zara’a Al-Mahrami and Fargh Al-Bahsani as deputies to Al-Zubaidi, all of whom are members of the Presidential Council.
Just hours prior to his arrival in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on the basis of an urgent call, Al-Zubaidi made these statements.
Zubaidi rejected previous Saudi invitations to his President, who decided to postpone his arrival in Riyadh until after the opening of the National Assembly in Mukalla, fearing that he and his deputy Al-Bahsani would be placed under house arrest.
Al-Zubaidi’s statements indicate his attempt to impose conditions on Al-Alimi and Saudi Arabia, against whom he is waging a struggle to demand the change of “Maeen Abdulmalik”.
He also indicates that the decision to transfer the National Assembly meetings from Aden to Mukalla is means of imposing restrictions that prevent Al-Alimi from maneuvering and fleeing to Hadramout and putting him in front of new obligations, most notably changing the government, which the Transitional Council wants to acquire the majority of the portfolios. Additionally, his decision to add two members of the Presidential Council to his presidential body.
