Hadi Haig, a leader in Al-Islah and the previous head of the government of Maeen delegation in the prisoner discussions, emphasized the party’s position on disclosing Qahtan’s fate first.
A Ma’een delegation member, Majid Fadhael, had earlier disclosed a stumble in the trust-building procedures pertaining to the visitation exchange between the Sana’a and Marib jails. Fadhael did not, however, elaborate on the causes of the stumble.
It was anticipated that the Yemeni parties would begin mutual visits to prisons, paving the way for a new round of negotiations aimed at exchanging 1,500 prisoners from both sides.
Sana’a had already presented initiatives connected to Qahtan; therefore, Al-Islah’s call for Qahtan at this time attempts to obstruct international efforts to advance in the negotiations. Abdul Qader Al-Murtada, the leader of the prisoner committee in the Sana’a delegation, announced the most recent initiative, which Al-Islah rejected.
