The Yemeni front ignites with the first clash in Bab Al-Mandeb

Yemen expanded the confrontation with the Israeli occupation and its allies on Thursday with the first clashes recorded in Bab Al-Mandeb.

Simultaneously with the ongoing aerial operations deep in the occupied Palestinian territories carried out by Sana’a forces from time to time, Bab Al-Mandeb witnessed the first actual clashes. The US Department of Defense reported an attack targeting one of its destroyers stationed in the strategic strait, which is the most important vital port for the occupation.

The Pentagon claimed in a statement that the destroyer “USS Thomas Hudner” engaged with an explosive drone while it was approaching and indicated that the aircraft was launched from Yemen.

These developments come less than two days after the leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, directed the closure of Bab Al-Mandeb to Israeli ships and vowed to track and seize it.

The US deploys several warships and nuclear submarines in the region.

Sana’a has not officially claimed responsibility for the operation, and it is unknown whether the target was the battleship, which Washington had not previously announced its deployment, or just a message to US forces, especially as the attack came hours after the US Department of Defense threatened to respond to a previous operation by Sana’a forces, during which a US MQ-9 reconnaissance drone was shot down. However, the timing of the operation indicates that Yemen is moving towards escalation with the occupation and its proxies in Yemen.
