The Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation in Sana’a stated on Sunday that the “suspension of humanitarian aid in the liberated provinces is a political decision and a punishment for the Yemeni people who support the Palestinian cause, whose people are subjected to genocide by the Zionist entity.”

The Council affirmed in a statement that “the decision to suspend aid is a result of previous American threats to cut humanitarian assistance if the Yemeni position in support of the Palestinian people persists,” considering that this decision “contraries to the principles of humanitarian work, particularly neutrality, impartiality, and non-discrimination.”
It pointed out that “politicizing the humanitarian file and aid is a crime against humanity, in violation of all international conventions, laws, and treaties, and it puts the lives of millions of affected people in danger of famine,” adding that “the program has obtained the necessary resources to continue distributing aid at the same level as last year, 2022, and there is no decrease in funding according to the program’s claims.”
The Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs responded to the program’s claims regarding insufficient funding, stating, “The available funding for the program this year exceeds what was available last year, according to the program’s official website,” holding “the United Nations program responsible for the serious humanitarian repercussions on the lives of millions of people in need as a result of this ill-considered and unjust decision against the Yemeni people.”
