American confirmations that a US ship was targeted in the Gulf of Aden

Only hours after Washington re-designated the Ansar Allah as a terrorist organization due to its operations against occupation ships in the Red Sea in support of Gaza, an American official disclosed that a commercial vessel owned by a US company was attacked from territories controlled by the group in Yemen.

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The US official stated that the attack had hit the vessel, but at the present time, the weapon used, the extent of damages, and potential injuries cannot be disclosed.

On its part, the British Maritime Trade Operations organization announced receiving a report about an incident 66 nautical miles southeast of Aden. In a navigational advisory memorandum, it was added that the captain reported the vessel being attacked by a drone in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Yemen and also reported a fire on board the ship, which was later extinguished.

This latest attack comes just hours after US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced that Washington had re-designated the Ansar Allah in Yemen as a “global terrorist organization.”

Sullivan stated that the designation would take effect within 30 days to give us time to mitigate the impact of this decision on the Yemeni people. He further clarified that if the Houthis cease their attacks in the Red Sea, Washington will consider lifting this designation.
