Gaza: Spread of hepatitis in places of displacement

Health Ministry in Gaza Strip announced the spread of hepatitis ”A”, as a result of overcrowding in places of displacement, and low levels of hygiene. It warned that the laboratory test for blood “CBC” will be suspended due to the lack of blood materials.

In a second statement, the ministry warned, “that the CBC (full blood test) will stop at any moment, as a result of the lack of its own materials,” it said, without further details.

The Palestinian displaced people in Gaza Strip live in harsh conditions produced by the ongoing war on Gaza Strip, the latest chapter of which is represented by the lack of “toilets”, which forces numbers of displaced people to relieve themselves in the “open”, in addition to large overcrowding inside the displacement centers.

Water scarcity has cast a negative shadow on the “reality of hygiene inside the camps”, where many IDPs are unable to protect themselves from the repercussions of pollution and lack of hygiene.

More than once, local and UN health institutions have warned from the spread of diseases and epidemics among the displaced due to the lack of needed water for the displaced to protect themselves from diseases.
