Lazzarini: The war in Gaza is harsher for women

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said Thursday that the war in Gaza could be particularly harsher for girls and women.

In a post on X, Lazzarini explained that women and girls often go months without being able to bathe, going through several periods without being able to wash themselves.

He added that they are forced to cut their hair very short because of lice, lack of shampoo and lack of water.

“Many feel unsafe, losing privacy and dignity in overcrowded shelters and displacement sites.”

That situation represented another aspect of the deepening violation of humanity in that war.
