The Assistant Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Hajj, said that the wounded of the war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip need about half a million surgeries in light of the collapse of the health system.
“There are more than 94,000 wounded in Gaza, and these need an average of 3 to 4 surgeries after the war,” al-Haj said.
“The number of surgeries required for the injured after the war may reach half a million,” he said.
These necessary operations will not be performed without the provision of full surgical teams and field hospitals adjacent to the remaining hospitals in the Gaza Strip to support them, he said.
He says that the health system in Gaza suffers from the loss of more than 70% of the clinical capacity due to the Israeli occupation bombing of hospitals and their outage.
