The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says more than 50,000 children in Gaza are acutely malnourished.
UNICEF Nutrition Director Victor Agüayo explained that this number of children in the Gaza Strip suffer from acute malnutrition and need immediate treatment.
UNICEF reports that 9 out of 10 children in Gaza lack sufficient nutrients to ensure their healthy growth and development, and that the sharp rise in malnutrition rates among children and pregnant and lactating women in the Strip poses serious threats to their lives.
Food and safe drinking water are extremely scarce and infectious diseases are spreading, affecting the nutrition and immunity of women and children and leading to an increase in cases of acute malnutrition.
