UNRWA: Israel rejected our request to evacuate the trapped under the rubble in northern Gaza

Inas Hamdan, media officer at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), said Sunday that Israel had rejected an urgent request by the agency to evacuate those trapped under the rubble of the genocide committed by Tel Aviv in the northern Gaza Strip.

“Over the past two weeks, we have repeatedly warned that the tightening of the siege on Jabalia and the North Gaza governorate is making the situation more catastrophic, and ongoing Israeli military operations in northern Gaza are putting tens of thousands of civilians at grave risk,” she said.

“Moreover, the military offensive in northern Gaza cuts off people’s access to the necessities necessary for their survival, including water.”

“Jabalia camp has been besieged for more than two weeks, and we are receiving information about families trapped in their homes, water and food are running out, and photos from the camp show residents running for their lives, with no safe place to take refuge,” she warned.

“On 18 October, two out of the remaining three hospitals in the northern Gaza governorate were directly targeted (Al-Awda and Indonesian hospitals), and these attacks are exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza in a very worrying way,” Hamdan said.

The UN official called on Israel to “allow humanitarian and rescue teams to reach the sick, wounded and trapped without delay, because every minute of delay exacerbates the disaster.”
