WHO chief: Health situation in northern Gaza is appalling

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on Thursday condemned the attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, describing the health situation in the northern Gaza Strip as “appalling.”

“Amnesty International condemns the attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital, which injured some hospital staff,” Ghebreyesus said on the X platform, noting that the attack hit a warehouse containing vital supplies from the World Health Organization brought in through complex operations as well as a desalination plant and water tanks above the hospital, noting that the hospital has been “barely” functioning since the last strike.

He warned that “the health situation in northern Gaza is already appalling” and called for “the protection of hospitals and full compliance with international humanitarian law.”
