The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that a number of displaced Palestinians were killed during attacks in the Mawasi area, in the central Gaza Strip today, as hostilities continue across the Strip, including in the northern Gaza governorate, which remains under Israeli siege.
UN humanitarian partners reported that between 65,000 and 75,000 Palestinians remain in the northern Gaza governorate. The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said conditions in the besieged areas were inhumane given the scale of death, destruction and deprivation over the past five weeks.
The Office reiterated the need to protect civilians, whether they have moved from or remain in their positions, and to allow them to leave for safer areas and return as soon as conditions permit.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said Israeli authorities continued to deny their requests for access to Kamal Adwan and al-Awda hospitals in the northern Gaza governorate. Last week, all three attempts to deploy an international emergency medical team to Kamal Adwan Hospital failed.
