Sana’a | Mine Center: Yemen ranks third in the world in terms of mine victims

The number of casualties from cluster bombs and mines in Yemen has exceeded more than 9,500 civilians, mostly women and children, as a result of the coalition war on Yemen since March 2015 until last October, according to the Mine Action Center in Sana’a.

The Executive Director of the center, Brigadier General Ali Safra, stated, “Yemen ranks third globally in terms of mine victims, according to United Nations reports,” noting that the victims in Yemen are not limited to mines and cluster bombs, as the center receives appeals and requests for intervention from victims of airstrikes.

He explained that the center has statistics of approximately 50,000 victims due to air strikes and coalition flight bombs, with the number of wounded reaching 31,000 as a result of the airstrikes, according to the source.

The Saudi-Emirati coalition aircraft launched more than (3,187,630) cluster munitions of various industries—American, British, Pakistani, and Brazilian—on Yemen, according to a joint statistic from the center and the Ministry of Human Rights in Sana’a in October 2023.
