The World Health Organization said on Friday that nearly 230 health workers and patients have been killed in Lebanon since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza in October 2023.
The organization reported that 226 health workers and patients were killed in Lebanon, and 199 injured, between 7 October 2023 and 18 November 2024.
Abdel Nasser Abu Bakr, the organization’s representative in Lebanon, stressed that “these figures are very worrying.” The World Health Organization said in a statement that these figures come from a system that monitors attacks on health care worldwide.
Since October 7, 2023, “47% of attacks on healthcare facilities have been proven. Abu Bakr attributed this high rate to the increasing number of ambulances hit by the bombardment in Lebanon.
