The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for the Palestinian Territories, Muhannad Hadi, has warned that the supply of food, medicine, water and fuel in the Gaza Strip is at risk of being almost completely interrupted, threatening the lives of two million Palestinians.
Hadi said in a statement published on Thursday that Israel has been preventing the entry of commercial imports for six weeks, noting that this was accompanied by an increase in looting targeting aid convoys inside the Strip.
Bakeries are closing due to a lack of flour and fuel to operate them, he said.
The UN Coordinator said that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are struggling to survive amid appalling conditions and non-stop hostilities, stressing the need to urgently improve the security situation in the Gaza Strip, allowing for the safe delivery of aid.
