The World Health Organization described the situation on the ground in Gaza Strip, especially its northern part, as “catastrophic” on Thursday, warning of severe shortages of medicines, food, fuel, and shelter.
Follow ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The Director-General of the organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated that when the occupation launched its war on Gaza Strip over a year ago, nearly all those displaced due to the conflict sought refuge in public buildings or stayed with relatives, adding that 90% of them are now living in tents.
Ghebreyesus cautioned in a press conference at the organization’s headquarters in Geneva that “this makes them vulnerable to respiratory and other diseases, while the cold weather, rain, and floods are expected to exacerbate food insecurity and malnutrition.”
