Gaza – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The spokesman for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Palestine, Kadem Abu Khalaf, reported that the situation in northern Gaza is getting worse and is considered extremely difficult and tragic.
Abu Khalaf emphasized that 30% of children in Gaza are suffering from severe malnutrition, while 2,500 children are in dire need of urgent medical evacuation. He also noted that 95% of schools housing displaced persons have been completely destroyed, further complicating the humanitarian situations.
In a previous report, the organization warned that over 50,000 children in Gaza are experiencing severe malnutrition, indicating that the humanitarian situation in the Strip has reached catastrophic levels.
UNICEF’s Nutrition Director, Victor Aguayo, mentioned that the increasing number of children struggling with severe malnutrition requires immediate treatment, warning of an imminent humanitarian crisis explosion and an increase in child deaths related to malnutrition.
UNICEF also added that 9 out of 10 children in Gaza lack the essential nutrients necessary for their healthy growth and development, and the sharp rise in malnutrition rates among children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers poses serious threats to their lives.
