Israeli tanks penetrated into northern neighborhoods of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday and Palestinian medics said Israeli air strikes had killed at least 20 people across the territory.
Residents said tanks penetrated Khan Younis a day after the Israeli military issued new evacuation orders, saying there was rocket fire from the area.
As shells landed near residential areas, families fled their homes and headed west towards the humanitarian area in Mawasi.
Medics said 11 people were killed in three air strikes on areas of central Gaza, including six children and a paramedic. They said five of the dead die while waiting in line outside a bakery.
