The US revealed its new plan in Yemen on Sunday.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The U.S. Agency for International Development indicated that the US administration is counting on the spread of famine in Yemen, particularly in the north of the country, where the Ansar Allah movement controls. The agency published a new report that includes a wide-ranging campaign, claiming that around 17 million people are experiencing emergency levels of food insecurity.
The agency alleged that more areas in northern Yemen will witness severe famine conditions.
The American report coincided with a move to tighten the blockade on the port of Hudaydah, the most prominent seaport for the majority of the Yemeni population in the north of the country.
Last week, the U.S. envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, visited the UN mission headquarters in Djibouti, where he called for intensified inspection measures for ships heading to Hudaydah with the participation of U.S. forces stationed there. The American envoy’s statement came alongside the proposal to enhance the ship inspection mechanism in the UN Security Council by the American delegate during a session last week.
These developments indicate that the US, which has been waging an aggression on Yemen since last January, is counting on the occurrence of a new famine by tightening the blockade to subdue Yemen.
America insists on halting Yemeni operations supporting Gaza in exchange for progressing towards a peace agreement in Yemen.
