The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has confirmed that a child is killed in the Gaza Strip every hour as a result of the Israeli war that has been going on for more than a year.

In a tweet on the X platform, the agency’s commissioner-general, Philippe Lazzarini, said that 14,500 Palestinian children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, stressing that these are not numbers but lives that ended prematurely.

Lazzarini added that the killing of children or those who survived them and suffered physical and emotional trauma could not be justified.

The UNRWA Commissioner-General said boys and girls in Gaza were moving through the rubble, deprived of education.4

He warned that time was running out quickly and children were losing their lives, their futures and most of their hopes.

In July, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East said the Gaza Strip was on the verge of losing an entire generation of children to the Israeli war.
