Gaza – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Pascale Coissard, the emergency coordinator for Doctors Without Borders, confirmed on Tuesday that the city of Rafah is suffering from massive destruction due to the Israeli war, noting that the removal of unexploded shells scattered among the houses will take years, hindering reconstruction and the return of residents to their normal lives.

Coissard added that the danger remains despite the cessation of bombardment, as unexploded shells are scattered among the remnants of buildings, making most of Rafah’s areas unsafe for the return of Palestinians, explaining that the situation in the city is disastrous, as houses, shops, streets, and health facilities have been completely destroyed, in addition to the damage to electricity and water systems.

She stressed the need to provide urgent humanitarian assistance and health services and to work on rebuilding the city so that life can gradually return to Rafah. However, the security challenges resulting from unexploded shells are a major obstacle to any reconstruction efforts.

For its part, the government media office in the Gaza Strip confirmed that the rate of destruction in the Gaza and North governorates reached more than 90%, indicating that the residents of the two areas need 135,000 tents and caravans urgently and quickly.

This comes at a time when the residents of the Strip are trying to return to their destroyed homes or what remains of them amid difficult humanitarian conditions and constant danger threatening their lives due to the remnants of the Israeli war.
