Kamal Abu al-Rub, governor of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, said on Sunday that the Israeli army was reproducing the image of the bombings of residential blocks from the Gaza Strip to the city’s camp, noting that they were the first of their kind since 2002.

Abu Al-Rub added in statements to Anatolia that the Israeli authorities are working to destroy the camp and turn it into an unlivable place by blowing up Sakina squares and destroying infrastructure.

“The Israeli army moved its war from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank, and the bombings in Jenin camp are akin to the Israeli genocide in Gaza,” he said.

“The Israeli bombings in Jenin camp today are the first of their kind since 2002, after the battle in which neighborhoods of the camp were destroyed at the time,” he said.

On that date, coinciding with the Al-Aqsa intifada, Israel launched a military operation on the Jenin camp and destroyed it, while Palestinians in the area said in previous statements to Anatolia that they were living a recurring tragedy greater than the tragedy of 2002.

The governor of the city warned that “the Israeli army intends to blow up more residential blocks in the Jenin refugee camp, as we were informed.”

He also pointed out that 3,420 Palestinian families were displaced from Jenin camp out of 3,490 families as a result of the Israeli military operation.
