World press: The world abandoned Gaza amid an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe

International newspapers covered the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip from multiple angles, highlighting the suffering of civilians, especially children, and the psychological and material challenges facing the population.

The testimony of British surgeon Nizam Mahmoud in the Guardian newspaper revealed the depth of the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, as he described what he saw during his volunteer work in the Strip as a “hell” to which children were particularly exposed.

Mahmoud expressed shame about Britain’s role in this tragedy, calling for those responsible for the crimes committed to be held accountable.

French academic Jean-Pierre Filiu gave first-hand testimony from Gaza’s “humanitarian zone” in Le Monde, where he spent more than a month witnessing the final weeks of the war and the early days of the truce.

The world has abandoned more than two million people in Gaza for more than 15 months, he said, warning of the risk of collapsing the lives of the population if the current truce agreement fails.
The New York Times reported on the suffering of Palestinians through the story of university student Shaima Ahmed, who described the lives of Gazans amid the rubble and devastation after the ceasefire took effect.
