During their forced stay in the southern Gaza Strip, displaced Palestinians from the northern Gaza Strip used to receive meals from charity takaya and periodically receive food parcels from relief organizations, which provided them with an acceptable degree of food security.
However, the conditions they faced after returning to their areas in the northern Gaza Strip shocked them, as they were surprised by the lack of hospice and did not receive food parcels that meet some of their food needs, and these conditions raise the fears of the returnees, especially with the loss of money needed to buy food.
Since 27 January, tens of thousands of displaced people have been returning to their areas of displacement, as stipulated in the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Maysa Nour al-Din found herself in a shelter camp in the center of Gaza City without the ability to provide food for her family, and says, “The issue of eating in which great suffering, especially for returnees from the south, supposed to care (officials) us more.”
The Palestinian woman calls for providing food “takaya” to the returning families to provide them with food periodically, in addition to giving them food parcels, adding, “They told us to go back and you will find camps, food and many things, but we did not find, as you can see, no one cares about us, neither eating nor drinking or any subject.”
