Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
A report published on the American website “War on the Rocks” warned that relying on assassinations as a main strategy against Sana’a’s forces, including targeting the leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, will not lead to the end of the threat facing the US and Israel but may carry great risks.
The report indicated that some analysts believe that the assassination of Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi may lead to the collapse of the group, but reality indicates that the movement has become institutionalized and organizationally flexible and was not affected by the previous assassinations of its leaders, such as the group’s founder, Hussein Badr Al-ddin Al-Houthi, and the former President of the Supreme Political Council, Saleh Al-Sammad.
Assassinations Did Not Resolve Conflicts:
The report cited historical examples that prove that the liquidation of leaders did not lead to the end of threats, but in some cases strengthened the power of the targeted groups. It cited the assassination of Abbas Al-Musawi, the leader of Hezbollah in 1992, which paved the way for Hassan Nasrallah to take over the leadership, making the party organizationally and militarily stronger until his death in 2024. It also referred to the failure of the assassination of Yahya Al-Sinwar in Gaza to significantly affect Hamas’ combat capabilities.
The report explained that Sana’a’s forces have a long-range missile arsenal reaching 2,500 kilometers and have proven their ability to disrupt maritime shipping and threaten American and Israeli assets. According to the report, targeting the group’s leader with a drone will not be a magic solution to end these threats.
An Unguaranteed Gamble:
The report indicated that relying on an assassination operation that takes a long time to plan and implement, with no guarantee of success or achieving strategic results, constitutes an unnecessary gamble.
The report concluded that the search for “quick fixes” through leadership liquidation operations is an uninformed approach that may lead to disappointing results, rather than providing a real strategic solution to the threats in the region.
