The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned on Thursday of the worsening suffering of patients and the wounded in hospitals due to the shortage of oxygen supplies, following Israel’s complete destruction of 10 oxygen generating stations during its offensive in the Strip.
Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Bassam al-Hamadin, said in a statement that “the suffering of patients and the wounded in intensive care, operating room, and ventilator departments is compounded by the lack of oxygen supplies.”
Al-Hamadin added that “the Israeli occupation deliberately destroyed electromechanical systems, most importantly the oxygen generating stations, which has put 10 stations out of service that supplied vital hospital departments with oxygen.”
He pointed out that hospitals in the Gaza Strip are in dire need of 10 oxygen stations to ensure the continuity of healthcare provision in various departments.
Al-Hamadin also explained that the worsening power outage crisis poses a major obstacle to the resumption of operations in hospitals and primary care centers.
He stressed the urgent need for 30 generators of various sizes.
