On Saturday, US President Donald Trump began a new attempt to justify his attack on the Yemeni capital, coinciding with an escalation of concerns of a response.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
In a new statement, Trump said that those he described as “the Houthis” had besieged American ships and battleships in the Bab Al-Mandeb strait.
It was not clear whether Trump was referring to new Yemeni operations against US forces or was speaking about the confrontations that had lasted for more than a year, during which battleships, including aircraft carriers, were targeted.
Trump’s statements came an hour after the US forces launched a new aggression on the capital, Sana’a.
They also coincided with the revelation by US media outlets of fears of response from what it described as “the Houthis.”
The New York Times quoted officials in the Trump administration threatening further attacks, according to what it described as the “nature of the response” from the Yemeni forces.
These statements indicate American concern about a strong Yemeni response that could target American interests in the region.
Yemen had previously threatened a painful response if America dared to aggress again.
