The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that the health system in Gaza is witnessing an almost complete collapse, as more than 80 percent of hospitals and medical centers have departed from service.
Health warned today of a health disaster in hospitals that threaten the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression. She noted that hospitals and medical centers in the West Bank are facing enormous pressure, in light of the restrictions on movement, which greatly impede the delivery of medical aid and basic supplies to the affected areas. She indicated that the remaining health facilities suffer from severe overcrowding and a severe shortage of medical staff, which hinders urgent surgeries due to the loss of substances needed for anesthesia and basic supplies. The Ministry of Health pointed out that the continued targeting of unarmed civilians in camps, homes and shelters from the occupation calls for urgent international action to save the wounded, and reopen the crossings to facilitate the entry of medical aid, fuel and equipment necessary to restore life to the health system in Palestine. The Israeli occupation held full responsibility for these brutal crimes, calling on the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the Red Cross, and international human rights organizations to move quickly and pressure the occupation to open the crossings and secure humanitarian corridors to transport the wounded and bring in medical aid.
