The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip condemned the “brutal” Israeli bombing of the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis on Monday, considering it a “new war crime” that requires an “independent international investigation” to uncover its circumstances.
On Sunday evening, the Israeli army directly and deliberately targeted the surgical department of the hospital in Khan Yunis (south), killing two Palestinians who were receiving medical care, including Hamas leader Ismail Barhoum, and wounding several other medical personnel.
“This attack constitutes a new war crime, adding to the record of repeated Israeli violations against civilians and medical facilities, which flagrantly violate the rules of international humanitarian law and international conventions that prohibit the targeting of hospitals,” the Ministry’s Director General, Munir al-Barsh, said in a statement.
