Another danger to Gaza’s children: the rubble of their homes destroyed by war

In addition to the war claiming a large number of civilian lives, the widespread destruction it has caused poses another threat to the lives of children, whose families have no choice but to live in the rubble of their destroyed homes.

Local reports indicate that many children have lost their lives as a result of house collapses or falling debris while they were in or playing nearby. The war in Gaza left an unprecedented level of destruction, with an estimated 51 million tons of rubble.

According to a report issued by the United Nations, the World Bank, and the European Union on damage and needs assessment, more than 60 percent of homes—approximately 292,000—and 65 percent of roads across the Gaza Strip, which covers an area of approximately 360 square kilometers, were destroyed.
