Yemeni forces target the command-and-control aircraft of the American aircraft carrier “Harry S. Truman”—its” characteristics

A senior source in the Sana’a government confirmed that the Yemeni forces targeted the E-2 command and control aircraft of the American aircraft carrier “Harry S. Truman,” which led to its loss of command, indicating that the White House and the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) are investigating the matter, according to a statement to the “Al-Mayadeen” channel.

Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The E-2 aircraft is considered one of the most important aircraft operating on American aircraft carriers, as it carries out early warning, command and control missions, and provides intelligence information about potential threats facing the carrier during military operations. It is also characterized by a powerful radar capable of detecting air and naval targets at long distances, in addition to guiding fighter aircraft and managing military operations.

Reports indicate that the aircraft is operated by a crew of five: two pilots and three specialists in operating surveillance and tracking devices, making it a key element in the carrier’s coordination and command operations.

According to the sources, the targeting of the E-2 aircraft represents a major blow to the “Truman” aircraft carrier, as it leads to its loss of the ability to detect potential attacks and coordinate its air and naval operations, making it more vulnerable to Yemeni missile or drone attacks.

The spokesman for the Yemeni forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced this morning that the American aircraft carrier “Truman” and a number of hostile warships in the Red Sea were targeted three times in the past 24 hours.

This development comes in the context of the escalation of Yemeni forces’ operations against American and Israeli targets, as part of their military support for Gaza and their rejection of the American-Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
