Gaza Strip without medicine

On the occasion of World Health Day, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned of the deteriorating health and humanitarian conditions in the Strip in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression, stressing that Gaza is now “without medicine,” amid the imminent collapse of the health system due to the blockade and the systematic destruction of health facilities.

In a statement issued on Monday and received by Quds Press, the Ministry indicated that the ongoing aggression has so far resulted in the martyrdom of 50,752 Palestinians and the injury of more than 115,000, amid the ongoing war of genocide.

According to the statement, 37% of medicines and 59% of vital medical supplies have reached zero, while medicines for operations, intensive care, and emergency departments have been depleted to unprecedented levels.

The Ministry added that vital departments in hospitals rely on dilapidated generators that are threatened with shutdown due to fuel and spare parts shortages, with most of them destroyed by Israeli bombing.

The Ministry confirmed that patients and wounded in Gaza are deprived of diagnostic imaging services after the destruction of CT and MRI machines. This is in addition to the shortage of 54% of cancer and blood disease medications, which has led to the suspension of treatment protocols and puts patients’ lives at risk. The Ministry stressed that 40% of primary care medications and 51% of maternal and child health medications are out of stock, noting that 13,000 patients and wounded have been deprived of specialized treatment outside Gaza due to the closure of the Rafah crossing.
