With extremely thin bodies, a number of Palestinian children groan under the burden of malnutrition at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip. This scene has become a near-daily occurrence due to Israel’s starvation policy, which has closed the crossings to aid and goods for the second month.
With this policy, Israel is taking revenge on Gaza’s children who have escaped death by bombing, burning, and sniping, and is forcing them to die using starvation, a weapon that human rights and governmental organizations have deemed a tool of genocide.
This stage of famine comes amid the collapse of the health sector in the Palestinian Strip due to Israel’s continued war of extermination against the Palestinians since October 7, 2023, and its prevention of the entry of medicines and medical supplies into Gaza.
Since March 2, Israel has continued to close the Gaza Strip’s crossings to food, relief, medical aid, and goods, causing a significant deterioration in the humanitarian situation of the Palestinians, according to governmental, human rights, and international reports.
