Gaza government: Israel committed 112 massacres against water filling lines

The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip said on Monday that Israel is waging a systematic war of deprivation, committing 112 massacres against water filling lines, resulting in the deaths of more than 700 Palestinians, the majority of whom are children, since October 7, 2023.

The government office added in a statement: “In one of the most heinous crimes against humanity, the occupation continues to wage a systematic and deliberate war of deprivation against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian conventions. Water is used as a weapon of collective war to exterminate the population and deprive them of their most basic rights.”

The office explained that the army has committed approximately “112 massacres against water filling lines, resulting in the deaths of more than 700 martyrs, the majority of whom are children.” The most recent massacre occurred in the Nuseirat refugee camp (central Gaza) on Sunday, where 12 people, including eight children, were killed while waiting at a water filling point.

The office stated that since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army has targeted approximately 112 sources of fresh water, destroying 720 water wells and putting them out of service.

It noted that targeting water wells has deprived “more than a million and a quarter people of access to clean water.”

The Israeli army has also prevented the entry of 12 million liters of fuel per month into the Gaza Strip, the minimum amount allocated to operate water wells, sewage treatment plants, waste collection vehicles, and other vital sectors, according to the statement.

It continued: “This ban has caused a near-total paralysis of water and sewage networks and exacerbated the spread of epidemics, especially among children.”
