UNRWA: We are receiving messages of despair from Gaza about famine

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) renewed its call on Monday to lift the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip to end the famine there.

The agency said via its X platform that it is receiving desperate messages about famine from Gaza, including from its own staff.

It reported a 40-fold increase in food prices, indicating the repercussions of the ongoing blockade.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Gaza, UNRWA has enough food stored in its warehouses to cover the needs of its entire population for more than three months, while the occupation is preventing aid from entering.

The agency called for the Israeli blockade to be lifted and for aid to be safely and widely delivered.
