Gaza officials: Unknown viruses threaten a humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip

The head of Palestinian civil society organizations, Amjad Shawa, warned of the deteriorating health and food situation in the Gaza Strip, in light of the increasing spread of diseases caused by unknown viruses, “the nature of which the collapsed medical sector is unable to understand,” especially with the occupation’s destruction of infrastructure and the lack of medical aid.

The Director-General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Munir al-Barsh, had previously confirmed to Al Jazeera that the health system had lost the ability to diagnose diseases, and that viruses were attacking people without them knowing their sources, whether they were COVID-19 variants or other variants, given the lack of laboratories that would enable the Ministry of Health to test the nature of these viruses.
